USF Men’s Soccer Wins Third Place in Upcoming AAC Tournament; Take on No. 6 seed Charlotte at Corbett Stadium on Sunday at 6 p.m.


TAMPA (November 3, 2022) – The University of South Florida men’s soccer team won the No. 3 seed in the upcoming 2022 American Athletic Conference tournament and will face No. 6 seed Charlotte in the first round on Sunday at Corbett Stadium. Kick-off is at 6 p.m. Fans unable to attend the game can watch live on ESPN+.

The winner of the game between the Bulls and 49ers will take on No. 2 seed SMU on Thursday, November 10 at FIU Soccer Stadium in Miami. The championship game will take place on Sunday, November 13.

The Bulls finished the regular season with a 6-5-4 overall record and a 5-1-3 record in The American. Additionally, South Florida is in the midst of a season-long three-game winning streak and is undefeated in nine of its last 11 games.

The Vert et Or are 8-5 all-time in the AAC tournament and have played in the semi-finals five times (2019, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013) and played the title game three times ( 2016, 2014, 2013) the inaugural American Athletic Conference tournament trophy in 2013 as a five-seeded beating second-seeded UConn on penalties (6-5).

First round – Sunday November 6

Semi-finals – Thursday 10 November

Game 3 – Game 1 Winner vs SMU #2 | 4 p.m. | ESPN+

Championship Final – Sunday November 13

USF Men’s Soccer entered the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on September 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, winning 14 conference championships and making 21 NCAA tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

The University of South Florida men’s soccer team was well represented on the 2021 AAC Postseason All-Conference Team with four players earning top honors. American Athletic Conference Co-Goalie of the Year Kazuna Takase and first-team selection highlighted the Bulls’ winners. Shion Soga. Additionally, Takase was also selected to the all-conference second team with Salvatore Mazzaferroand Josh Gomina was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team.
