Nick Foederer named GAC goalie of the week


RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference has announced the league’s fifth GAC / MIAA Men’s Football Player of the Week. Antonio De La Torre of Fort Hays State won the offensive player of the week award; South Nazarene’s Kazuki Okazaki was named Defender of the Week and Harding Nick foederer won the goalie of the week award

GAC / MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Antonio De La Torre, Fort Hays State, D, Sr., Dodge City, Kansas

De La Torre led the conference with six points for the week – two goals and two assists. He scored the first goal of the game in a 7-1 win over Ouachita. He then provided assists on the Tigers’ fourth and fifth goals. He scored the equalizer in the 72nd minute against Harding.

GAC / MIAA DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Kazuki Okazaki, Southern Nazarene, Fr., Matsumoto City, Nagano, Japan

Okazaki played a huge role in the Crimson Storm’s first victory over Northeastern State since 2001, a 15-game streak in a row. He played all 90 minutes and made a miraculous save off the line in the first half to help keep the score tied. The RiverHawks had 10 shots in the game.

GAC / MIAA GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK – Nick foederer, Harding, Sr., Veldhoven, The Netherlands

Foederer conceded just one goal as the Bisons recorded a draw at Newman and a 2-1 win over No.15 Fort Hays State. He recorded six saves against the Jets as he recorded his first shutout. He followed with six more saves against the Tigers. The Bisons recorded their first-ever victory against a ranked opponent. They previously had a 0-30-1 record in these contests.
