Augustana Soccer welcomes two NSIC enemies this weekend


SIOUX FALLS, SD – Augustana Soccer is back on the pitch for his second straight weekend at Morstad Field this season. The Vikings will host the MSU Moorhead Dragons on Friday at 4 p.m. and the Northern State Wolves on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MSU Moorhead enters with a 0-5 record over the season. Augustana is 11-0 against the Dragons all-time, and the Vikings won the last game against MSU Moorhead with a 3-0 shutout victory. The teams last met on October 20, 2019.

Northern State starts Sunday’s game against Augustana with a 2-2 record this season and will have played Wayne State on Friday. Wolves’ record for the NSIC game is 1-1. The Vikings have the all-time advantage at 12-7-1. The teams last met on the pitch on October 18, 2019. The UA defeated NSU, beating Wolves 5-1.

The Dragons

MSU Moorhead has faced two NSIC opponents this season, with the Dragons falling in both games. The team played at home against Minnesota Crookston last Friday and Bemidji State last Sunday. The Dragons are aimless in conference action.

Freshman Ally Peters has scored the team’s only goal this season, scoring in a non-conference game against Black Hills State.

MSU Moorhead was ranked to finish 12th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll. They received 66 points in the poll.


Northern State is tied at 2-2 on the season. The team has one loss and one win in the NSIC conference game. Wolves lost to an undefeated team from Bemidji State and were able to secure a victory over Minnesota Crookston.

Rookie Eva Larson has scored two goals for Wolves this season, leading the team total. Both of his goals were scored against Minnesota Crookston in a win for NSU. First-year goaltender Alexus Townsend played all four games for Northern State. Townsend’s save percentage is 0.821 at the entrance to the competition.

Northern State received 55 points in the NSIC preseason coaching poll and is expected to finish 13th in the conference.

The Vikings

Augustana is hosting her second two-game conference game weekend. The Vikings are 2-2-1 on aggregate after being tied against defending NSIC champion Concordia-St. Paul and a Sunday victory over NSIC frontrunner State Minnesota, preseason.

Senior Carlie Kray scored the AU’s only goal to consolidate victory over the state of Minnesota. The goal against MSU was Kray’s first of the season. Second year goalie Jillian barkus recorded her second shutout of the season on Sunday when she saved all seven shots she faced.

Junior Sylvie Fehr has collected three assists this season. She has collected an assist on three of the four goals the Vikings have scored this season. Senior Morgan keirstead follows Fehr closely with two assists.
